DSR Team Supports Local Track Efforts Amid COVID-19 Restrictions
The DSR Team finally saw some dirt flying and smelled the sweet smell of methanol this weekend with a practice session at Beford Speedway Saturday prior to joining the many eager teams and fans at a packed Roaring Knob Speedway Sunday night.
In an effort to feel some normalcy in our lives, Allen Pryde, owner of the 29 car, scheduled a test and tune session at Bedford, which is one of the closest tracks for the team. The team got to turn some laps and finally feel the excitement we have all been longing for in what seemed like the longest winter on record.
Saturday got the juices flowing and got the driver and crew pretty amped to be back under the lights. We could feel the hype on social media from the fans and community for the show at Roaring Knob knowing that the safety concerns for the week had been completely addressed. So thank you Roaring Knob for the diligent effort in making that happen!
The night started with a field of 35 cars and a pill draw that was less than we hoped for starting the Pryde 29 8th in the 2nd heat. Dan moved up one position in the Heat sending him to the 2nd of 2 B mains.
In Lap 2 of the B main and running in the transfer spot, the driveline broke on the Pryde 29 rolling the car to a stop and ultimately ending the night.
"Grateful for the opportunity to get back to racing and hopefully this opens the doors for more racing opportunities in the near future" Dan said of his first night back in the 29. "Having a normal night was something myself, crew and fans I think really needed."
Allen was just as excited to get the 29 back out on the track. "It was fulfilling to get back to the track for a night that was so much a part of our livelihood prior to covid-19 and we look forward to doing it again."
Thanks to all the fans, Bedford Speedway, Roaring Knob, and all or our sponsors for supporting us in our efforts. We can't do what we do without you.
